Film Types
We offer two types of films for automotive window applications.
Non Reflective Windscreen Tinting Films These films are as the name suggests non reflective. They compromise the premium quality Charcoal range and the newly launched economy NR Dark range. They are very easy to work with as they are only 1 ply thick and are made up of a crystal non scratch coating on top of a dyed polyester tinting film, with a crystal water activated adhesive.
This range is ideal for usage with in car satellite navigation systems (GPS) as the non reflective qualities allow for perfect satellite fixing.
The Non Reflective range rejects 99% of UV as does the metalised range, but it does not have the same heat rejection qualities as the metallised range.
Premium Charcoal has a 5 year guarantee against defect (providing it has been properly installed), whereas NR Dark has the price advantage, but without this guarantee.
Privacy and Metallised Films These films have a metallised coating applied directly onto the film (and under the adhesive) which gives it the added advantage of superb heat rejection and a 10 Year guarantee against defect (providing it has been installed correctly). They are sometimes known in the industry as Alloy and are 2 ply in thickness
Satellite navigation systems (such as Tom Tom and Garmin) that are applied to an attachment unit on the front windscreen can still function when these films are applied, but other internal systems may experience difficulties as the metallisation rejects the heat, it can also reflect the satellite signal.
If you are unsure as to which film suits you best, please contact us for advice.
